Camera roll 351 is one of four camera rolls (348, 349, 350, 351) containing an interview with Dorothy Ennis and her mother, Dorothy Hunter. During the Depression, Dorothy Hunter moved with her husband and children from the city to Blair's Creek in Shannon County. Hunter talks about her early experiences setting up a home and raising children in what to her was a strange and primitive place. The interview takes place as Dorothy Ennis (the daughter) gives us a tour of the large yard surrounding her house, to which Ennis referred as "her beautifying project." She had spent 18 years carving it out bit by bit from the Ozark brush, brambles, weeds, and scrub oak that surrounded the property. The yard covered two acres and included gardens, fruit trees, a small lake, and a babbling brook. Over the course of the interview, the women talk about life on Blair's Creek, flowers and gardens, the need for beauty in life, digging for herbs, the role of women, jobs, the difficulty of making a living, and the desire young people have to leave the area. In roll 351, Ennis and Hunter talk more about digging for roots on Blair Creek. Ennis tells how she thinks traditions and the love of nature and plants can be passed on to children. In the final scene, Ennis and Hunter pick lettuce while they tell about a family trip back to the old homeplace on Blair's Creek.
