Mojarto - An NDTV Venture The World Of Mojarto: An Artist Who Breaks Art Down To Simplicity And A Folk Revival

Artist Vikash Kalra is of the view that we intellectualise art way too much. It is not, according to him, a 200 page book that needs to be understood. Hence, his art work could be the result of a mood he is in, the weather outside, or peace within himself that he is free of the chains that bind some many. All he asks, is that his work be viewed from just one stand point- does it connect with the viewer in a way such that it can be viewed over and over again. We take you into the depths of this honest mind at work ! Also, curator Minhazz Majumdar has put together a curation of folk art by artists, some that have the distinction of being former land surveyors, postal service employees, but have painstakingly stuck with reviving Kalighat and Madhubani art in ways that are sometime amusing, like Kalam Patua's depiction of the social class at Delhi's Lodi Garden. We went into their space to find some amazing skills at display like the thread Pushpa Kumari uses to draw !
