In March 2016 Chennai's first biennale transformed railway stations and public parks into art galleries, for 3 weeks 164 artists in 20 locations made art and photography accessible to the common people. There were different themes for different locations- Urban water of Chennai, where photographers documented access to water, challenges from transportation to delivery of drinking water, sewage and the fisher folk helping understand what water is and how it affects people differently. Other themes included the Ghana fishing community and student portraits of the 70's. Some private galleries also joined hands and showcased other artists depicting themes of subconscious dreams and photographs taken by children with down syndrome and under privileged children.
